New Website of Sound, Light and Cinema Company



First Assistant to Minister of Commutations and Information Technology, Dr Hoda Baraka launched Sunday January 16, 2011 the new website of the Sound, Light and Cinema Company on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Sound and Light in Egypt.
 
Dr. Baraka launched the website on behalf of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel. 
 
The project is a part of the MCIT keenness to keep pace with the world's tourism market and the international competition heading fast towards e-tourism, which has come to play a significant role in the global economic growth.
 
It is also part of the collaboration among the Egyptian various authorities and agencies to support the tourism sector.
 
The new website has been the outcome of productive cooperation between MCIT and Sound, Light and Cinema Company under the umbrella of the Arabic e-Content Initiative, for the sake of providing a rich content with an added-value for the Egyptian, Arab and foreign online users.
 
The newly-launched website aims at boosting tourism in Egypt through attracting more tourists.
 
The site briefs visitors about the legend on which the shows are based, offering answers to various questions on the shows, the timetable and prices of tickets.
 
The website includes photo and video galleries revealing the magnificence of the legendary Sound and Light shows that are presented at the sites of different monuments such as the world renowned Pyramids of Giza, Temples of Karnak, Philae and Abu Simbel.

Reservations for the Sound and Light Shows, buying souvenirs and payment are available online through an e-shop.
 
In addition, the website offers a comprehensive database for the cinema heritage through which one can find information on the history of the Egyptian movies, heroes, director, movie premiers, movie posters and producers. 

It also gives an account of the cinemas and studios, either those hired or belonging to the company, in addition to a Cinema Museum that documents the cinematic history of Egypt. It includes the most important collections of clothing, accessories, cameras and equipment used in the production of early Egyptian films. 
 
The website also reviews the lighting projects the company has carried out in the Egyptian archeological sites and landmarks as well as contributing to boosting the investment climate through offering the available opportunities either in the cinema or the new sound and light projects.
 
Moreover, the new website offers an account of the company news and the shows on the Sound and Light stage with photos of these shows.
 
The website also offers contact channel with visitors, individuals and travel agencies that can present their proposals and views to be carefully studied by decision makers at the Sound, Light and Cinema Company. Contacts are also available through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. 
 
A huge photo archive is available for the Sound and Light shows VIP visitors at the various show sites.
 
In addition to this all, the newly-launched website contributes to the efforts of upgrading the national industries related to the content as well as enhancing the export potential of the content industry through supporting the digitizing, and boosting investment in the industry of hosting all kinds of digital content, whether heritage, scientific, knowledge, technical or news in addition to the tourist one. 
 
The project contributes a lot to the efforts of enhancing the demand on the Arab digital content, both on the local and international levels. 
 
It also consolidates the principle of the added value of the communications and information technology sector through the dissemination of public culture and social services, reducing reading costs and expanding the base of users. It also offers new job opportunities for young people.
