story of Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids

Two of my brothers visited us last month and one of the places

we brought them was the Sound and Light Show

 at the pyramids of Giza

We had never been and we decided at the last minute that

we wanted to do something The website lists days

 and times for several languages

and we were happy to see that there was a show

 in English that night

It is very easy to get to as it’s

on the back side of the pyramid complex

As you pass the entrance to the pyramids

on your right you’re forced to turn left and it’s the next right

There is a sign for the show. Follow the road for awhile

and you’ll see another sign

We went in a cab so we didn’t have to worry about parking

but there was plenty of room along t

he road if you want to drive yourself

There was a moveable barrier that makes it look like the road ends

 and we got out there

We had several offers for horse

and carriage rides after the shownot too aggressive,

but don’t let them try to convince you

that you have to go through them to get to the show

Go past the metal barrier

and the ticket window is on your right

Everyone pays the same price, no discount for Egyptians

Adults were 75EGP, students 45EGP and under 6 is free

We were offered 135 EGP for the first row

or 90 EGP for the second row

but we figured we’d take our chance

and do the cheaper seats.  Boy,

were we glad we didn’t spring

for the more expensive seats

We took seats in the 3rd row,

had a walkway in front of us,

so plenty of leg room,

and space for the kids to move around until the show

 The more expensive seats were

only about 15 feet in front of us

and no way were they worth the extra When

you choose your seats

move as far to the front and right as you can

The show was good. Like other people that have gone

it was a little cheesy but it gave a decent

overview of the pyramids

My 5 year old got a little bored but my brothers loved it

and were really glad that they saw the showAfterward

we decided to get a small meal at the restaurant

in the show complex

and they gave us a 30% discount because

we paid to see the show

We ended up watching the next show in Spanish
